Biometric Insecurity: Windows Hello facial recognition defeated using IR photo

While facial-recognition software is all the rage on mobile devices, some observers have voiced concerns that is isn't secure enough to be used as the primary authentication factor to unlock those gadgets. Apple's Face ID technology on the iPhoneX often can't distinguish between twins, and in some instances it even gave children access to their parent's phones.

While Windows Hello fared a little better in the twins test, penetration testers recently released a video showing how to defeat the face scanning technology by printing our a near IR photo (the same tech used by Windows Hello) and holding it in front of the device you want to unlock.
